Our school day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 3:15 pm for all
students in K4 - 12th grade. Students in K4 thru 2nd grade
use A Beka curriculum and beginning in the 3rd grade,
students use Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.)
curriculum. Students are given a diagnostic test and placed
at their level of ability in each subject, where they are then
able to progress at their own rate through the curriculum.
Besides the Christian principles taught in the curriculum,
students also memorize a weekly Scripture passage and have
daily time for devotions from God's Word. Chapel begins at
8:30 am every Tuesday and is mandatory for all staff and
students. Visitors are welcome to join us.
Before and after school care is available for an additional
fee that will be added to your monthly school bill. Students
may be dropped off as early as 7:00 am and must be picked up
no later than 5:15 pm. Students may be dropped off at 8:00
am and picked up by 3:30 pm with no additional charge.
Students are required to bring their own lunches. We have
refrigerators and microwaves available for their use. Lunch
items are also available for purchase from the school store.
The positive is accented as much as possible by rewarding the
desired effort. Students may earn the privilege of longer
breaks and going on the weekly field trip. A special all day
trip is given for Honor Roll students each quarter. At the
end of the year, an Awards Ceremony is held to present
awards for outstanding achievement throughout the year.
Students 9th grade and above are required to participate in
Regional Student Convention where they compete against
students from other A.C.E. schools in South Texas in the
areas of music, platform, academics, athletics, and arts &
crafts. If they qualify at Regional Student Convention they
can continue on to compete at the International Student
Convention. Students also have the opportunity to take
short term mission trips each year.
GCS is a member of both the Christian Athletic League of San
Antonio (CALSA) and the Texas Association of Private and
Parochial Schools (TAPPS). Students compete against other
schools in volleyball, basketball, and track through Jr. High
and Varsity programs.
